OUR PROGRAMS

I AM UNIVERSITY OF THE STREETS

Made them in my Vision

Molded them with words

Gave them the light for the tunnel of Dreams

Gave them Me.

My students

Pulled them from unconscious sabotage and feelings of utter lonesomeness to the safety of my Umbrella.

Push Man

Lift Woman

Teach Boys

Build Girls.

Push hope, peddle peace.

Dance, sing and bring dreams closer to reality.

The students will teach the teachers will learn.

We will overcome the cycle of detention and life suspention from the social misplacement of the concrete collage.

For we ARE the University of The Streets.

MUSIC THERAPY 10 WEEK COURSE

We teach the understanding of expression and celebrate the empowerment of releasing aggression in art form instead of direct rage. Our Music Therapists analyze our clients welfare and wellbeing, manage physical health by lowering blood pressure and providing ease of mental functioning, expressive abilities and cognitive skills. Using both 1 on 1 and group sessions the course includes music improvisation, chakra receptive music, song writing, and group lyric discussions and much more!

From session to session the trust between credible messenger and student will grow deeper than many conventional forms for counseling.

Through Musical Therapy we have found a way to blend art and wellness, undoubtedly helping out students cope with past trauma, manage pain, reduce stress disorders, and express pent up anxiety through improved communication.

Our target students are at risk youth mental health disorders, youth offenders from broken homes suffering from ptsd and undernourished mental health problems as well as formally incarcerated men and women throughout the NYC area.

SISTER'S HANDS

Established with the pure purpose of uplifting our young women by providing support, training, and supervision, sisters hands transitional housing is a safe space that gets people back on their feet after a crisis. Using the sisters success curriculum which is a 12 week progressive program showing each resident the 1 on 1 guided steps to become a productive independent aboveboard member of society. We facilitate Financial literacy living skills, sex education, group and individual counseling sessions, resource allocation for trauma/ptsd treatment, Credit building, anger management, and the skills needed to acquire the career path of the recipient. Limiting stays to 24 months or fewer, transitional housing is literally a transition between homelessness , shelters, corrections or crisis to a permanent living space, house or apartment. From the roots of the University of the Streets,  a non-profit  teaching the underprivileged at risk youth and young adults of NYC through the arts, Sisterhood means loving and accepting someone where they stand, yet  consistently inspiring them to their highest potential.
